Traveler ReviewsEuropean atmosphere at Westgate mall
Reviewed by Cindy25171 on Dec 29, 2010This is a good cafe with good food. Nothing to complain about and quite a lot to be happy about. Food is nice and they have bakery so the bread is always fresh. You cna also take home cakes and bread. My favorite dish is garlic shrimps, it is not a full meal but a good snack after a busy day. Clients are many from the expat community mixed with asians and africans. Only complain is that the music is to loud sometimes.
The bread is very nice, but...
Reviewed by Gussi63 on Nov 17, 2010There are 2 or 3 things I like about Artcaffe: They sell excellent bread to take home from their stand ouside the restaurant, you got the opportunity to sit outside (as long as you don't mind the traffic-noise and the view towards a parking-lot/construction-site) and their coffee is really good. Not so nice is their service, which seems always a bit confused and fairly slow. The staff though is friendly, but it seems there is a lack of organisation. The interior design is quite nice, but most of the time it's just too noisy and hectic indoors when you look for a place to relax. When it comes to the food I have to be more critical. I had pizza once - forget it, there are better options in Nairobi, even nearby. Just recently I ordered a roast-beef-sandwich which was a joke for 550KSH (5,50 Euro). Two thin slices of meat, a few vegetables and obviously not the good bread they sell outside. And my stomach is still "enjoying" it after 3 days (maybe they kept the sandwich too long in the display). I will continue to buy my bread there, have some coffee at times, but in future I definitely will skip the food.
Great location, good service
Reviewed by setravellerLondon on Nov 9, 2010Artcaffe is located in the Westgate mall. A friend took me there for lunch on a weekday. You can sit inside or outside. We both ordered fresh fruit juices, salad, and I had a Chicken calzone. We both had cheescake for dessert, which I found stodgy, but my friend loved it. I liked the location, and the staff were very efficient. The food was tasty and fresh. I would definitely recommend the fresh fruit juices.
Europe in Nairobi
Reviewed by OrriBjornsson on Oct 31, 2010Artcaffe is a nice cafe with good food, full of expats and well of locals. The atmosphere is nice and the food is good. It is at the Westgate mall a new good quality mall in Westlands. We like to go there for a small dish and drink in the evenings and on weekends. Service is quite ok and the prices do not hurt to much. My favorite is a garlic shrimp dish costing about 8 USD.
Nairobi's newest catch...
Reviewed by Mo-in-Dubai on Oct 6, 2010Situated in one of Nairobi's newest malls (Westgate Mall) about 1012mins drive from CBD on a good traffic day. Another cosmopolitan haven with ample seating & parking space available. Their salads are awesomely filling (key rec. Nicoise salad!) but their wine selection can be fairly limited depending on one's preference. It gets packed on weekends & clients like to linger on much later after having their fill. It's smokers friendly as there's plenty of seating space at the patio...approx. 5080 people, otherwise, there's always inside. A good place for a decent lunch on a weekday or after a day's shopping rounds.
