What to expect for real. Rating 3
stars (Going on 4 stars)
Bamburi Staff. Best we have ever
encountered. Absolutely fantastic!!!!!
Bamburi Decor. Not bad for 3 star,
much better than some of the so called 4 star places we have seen.
Bamburi Food. Excellent, though
they do hiccup sometimes.
Bamburi Facilities. The 2
pools are quite good, the gym is great and other on site facilities are
This hotel is always booked up, often by
those that come back year after year. So that speaks for itself. Thoroughly
recommended for family or couples. There is something for everyone. Fronts
onto the beautiful Bamburi beach with activities.
Its our favourite beach hotel, outstripping
the more expensive golfers White Sands for quality of service and friendliness.
The Bamburi beach hotel is conveniently
located on the north coast of Kenya and its main international
airport at Mombasa. This hotel facility offers the All Inclusive
concept and is set amid lush tropical gardens, with extensive white
sandy beaches overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean.
Very close to the hotel, the eco-friendly Bamburi Nature trail lies
across the creek that separates the island of Mombasa from the north coast of
Kenya, crossing the Nyali area. The Trail is a somewhat unique
development in that huge tracts of land were carved up to supply raw material
for the cement factory - old coral. Conservation issues are hugely important
nowadays. These areas are no longer used by the factory and instead have been
given back to nature. Assisted in part by the factory itself this area has been
re-developed - and now covers many acres of pools, trees, grasses, and
lately - fauna. This is an ongoing process and as time passed more animals
resulting in a pleasant environment once degraded.
The property is in an ideal location to offer visitors easy access to facilities
close by shopping, seeking arts and crafts, entertainment and
a range of tours and activities to be enjoyed on the coast, or inland to the famous
wildlifes areas of the country.

Unfortunately, we would have loved to have experienced the beach and its surroundings but were not able to do so as we were constantly being harassed by the beach vendors. They were friendly but would not leave us alone despite our numerous attempts at telling them so.

We had never been to Kenya before and did not know what to expect......we did not however expect what we saw! The hotel backed onto the beach and as soon as you came within a few feet of the beach peddlers we jostling for your attention to buy this and that

Catering & cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean
and what one would expect of a three star. As a couple that travels on
five holidays a year, I rate this one as Good. Food was excellent too,
and a good variety of Indian, Italian, fish, meat, and tropical fruit dishes.
Entertainment over Easter was fantastic.

The location of the hotel was lovely, however you could not step foot on the beach without being continually hassled by the local beach boys trying to sell stuff.

I would say that, overall, this was an average hotel in terms of comfort.
We had a very disappointing room tucked away by the beauty salon (our
ticket stated 'Sea View' - which was true if you stood at one side
of the patio on tippy toes!!). It was cleaned daily but the fixtures
and fittings are really tired. Friends we met at the hotel had much
better and bigger rooms with 'Real' Sea Views.

The animation team are great. I learnt how to play water volleyball despite not being able to swim.
I stayed at the Bamburi Beach Hotel in April 2009 and we had the most amazing
Our room was lovely, we had a double bed plus a single bed and a balcony that
looked out over the pool area and the beach. A great view to wake up
to every morning! The bedding and towels were changed daily and we had
no complaints regarding smells or threadbare sheets.
The food was buffet style but there were always lots of things to choose from.
There was a bbq section that had different meats every day.
Very friendly staff, from morning right through to evening time. Always greeted with a smile and 'Jambo'. great food!
